Tuesday

Above the #1 green, we planted 20 Native Rhododendron in the area that was cleaned up this past winter.  The goal is to add more in the future as addition resources can be allocated to the effort.  Keep in mind, these shrubs will grow to be very tall and wide!

The foggy morning and sun created a faint rainbow above #1 green this morning.

It's worth noting that our heights of cut on greens, tees, fairways and approaches are now at their summer height.  Greens are being double cut daily and rolling is occurring 3-4 days per week.  While the putting greens are healed from aerification for the most part, the groomers on the walk mowers are still pulling some sand to the surface.  Once this stops in another week or two, we will be doing some aggressive grooming on the greens to get them even more smooth and faster.  Again, during the spring season, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and we can't go any faster on our maintenance practices than she allows.  Getting too aggressive too early, can set the greens back through the early part of the summer.  That's something we are not willing to risk at Highlands CC.
