Saturday

The new yardage tags I ordered are complete and Saturday, I started to install them in their respective  locations. Again, the goal is to have a yardage on all fixed objects on the golf course. About 5 years ago, I knocked out most but stopped about 60 yards or less from the green. This next wave will finish those out and also add yardages to things like irrigation satellite boxes.

Below, is a goose grass plant. Historically, this hasn't grown in Highlands.  This year however, I've seen it in a lot of places.  It is a summer annual, like crabgrass. This means the first heavy frost will kill it. It grows very well in compacted soils where other plants won't grow.  Fortunately, it is easily controlled when a pre-emergent chemical is applied in Spring.
