Dry fairways were solid tined today in order to open them up to hopefully accept water. We will be running a heavier irrigation cycle tonight provided it doesn't rain due to the fertilizer applied to the rough (see below). The hole left is minimal and won't be visible after a mowing or two.
Above, the greens had a white tint today because of a gypsum application yesterday that wasn't fully "watered in." We gambled on the 80% chance of rain and came up empty handed. The greens will be irrigated this evening and that should get rid of the gypsum, washing it off the leaf blade and into the soil.
Jerry fertilized all the rough on the golf course today in anticipation of a thunderstorm or rain event the next 2 days. This fertilizer is a slow release product designed to last 6 months in our climate.
Above, bunkers were fly-mowed, sand depth-checked and raked. All of our maintenance is geared towards a successful Member/Guest Tournament. That said, I like to think everyday we have the golf course in the shape we have it during Member/Guest. Other than stepping up the daily mowing program, details are consistent.
Below, be sure to pay attention to the Hydrangeas this year! The flowers are a large as any year I can recall. Also, if you remember, the blue flower hydrangeas never flowered last year. This year, they are brilliant!
Below, Rita is doing a great job beefing up the perennial color around campus! We are thinning out some of the overgrown, aggressive perennials in the courtyard, and adding new material.
