To clean up the pond on #6, I installed a fountain to circulate the water. I acquired a nice stainless steel pump for free (can't beat the price) and put it to good use. I pulled the plug on the pond this afternoon and tomorrow we will be doing some dredging on the pond. In 2 days, the pond will be filled, cleaned out and deeper.
Above, the approaches around the practice green were aerified this afternoon. They have really sealed off this summer and opening them up will only help. We were fortunate to get 0.30" of rain this afternoon! We still need more!
Today I was invited to attend the Mountain Garden Club meeting with Anne Brissey. They had a wonderful speaker, Tom Hill- a local beekeeper from Otto, NC. I've experimented with bees the last 2 years with some success but all of my hives ultimately collapsed. This gentlemen had great insight on the subject and Paul Dalton, my beekeeping partner in crime and head mechanic also attended. The only thing we lacked was a sundress and big hat to fit in with the ladies. This is the same honey used in the Clubhouse by our kitchen staff. One day, I hope to be able to supply local honey from our property to the Chef.
