It is a rather cool but beautiful day in the mountains. Lows tonight are expected to get down into the 20's. The stiff breezes each day are really helping the course dry out.
There are a few areas on the golf course that were seeded 2 weeks ago. We are starting to see some really good germination but they have a way to go. I appreciate your patience as we get these areas filled in. Next Tuesday, I rented the hydroseeder again to touch up a few areas. The temperature fluctuations aren't helping us here. I am also afraid we lost some seed during the heavy rains last week.
Today was our first greens verticutting. This helps smooth the surface and thin out the turf, creating a more upright stand of turf that rolls truer and faster. We will perform this task Friday afternoon and again several times next week. Walk mowers are going out in the morning. By the end of next week, I expect the greens to be rolling rather nicely.
Trees, shrubs and turf are really waking up in Highlands!
