FAQ From the Golf Course this Spring

A couple frequently asked questions I've received this spring:

1. What happened to the brass pyramid shaped yardages on cart paths?

The pyramids on the cart paths were removed because I had a handful of broken yardages that needed to be replaced and they are far from being inexpensive.  After discussing this with the Green Chairman and others over the winter, we agreed that removing them was better than having random missing yardages on numerous holes.  We questioned there usefulness in a time where nearly every golfer owns and uses a range finder.

2. What happened to the trash can that used to be at #12 green/#13 tee?

The trash can at #13 tee was moved to the rain shelter behind the 13th green.  The trash can was so visible from #12 fairway, that we moved it in our effort to reduce the unnecessary clutter on the golf course.

3. What happened to the white number yardages on the new sprinkler heads?

The yardage on the sprinkler heads have faded in the sun and it is very disappointing to me that they didn't last but one season.  I am working with RainBird irrigation on replacing them with more of an engraved number system that can not fade.  In fact, I met with a representative at 10:00AM this morning to discuss alternatives.  I plan to order these as soon as possible.
