On the 2nd hole, the entire 2 tee is being dropped down a foot, in order to allow us to increase the square footage of the tee. At the end of the project, the tee will be 50% larger than it currently is. As the number of rounds increase at Highlands CC, our tees and our practice tee take the brunt of the damage because they are not nearly large enough for the amount of rounds we are trying to pack into a 6 month period. Our tees could nearly double in size and they would still fall below the USGA's recommendation for tee square footage. For example, according to the USGA, our range tee should be 1 acre in size given the rounds played. Our practice tee is approximately 0.45 acres. Keep in mind, that doesn't factor in usable space. The Learning Center, for example, causes a good bit of the tee to be unusable because of safety reasons. Because of this, only 0.35 acres of the tee is usable. In other words, we have 15,000ft2 of teeing ground compared to the recommendation of 44,000ft2 of a Club our size.
