Part of the Carolinas GCSA Conference and Show includes a trade show in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Hap was fortunate enough to attend. While he didn’t take part in any of the educational events offered at the conference, he did catch up with his trainer, who had a booth at the show. Fly Away Geese Farms is the Charlotte, NC based outfit that trains Border Collies for golf courses, airports and other entities looking for a herding dog to rid their property of Canada Geese. Rebecca, the woman standing behind Hap, was personally responsible for Hap’s training. She had Hap for a year and a half before he came to Highlands CC. She said he was her and her husband’s favorite puppy because he was full of personality. It was very cool seeing that Hap knew exactly who she was once he saw her. It’s safe to say that Hap loves the life he lives now as opposed to that back on the farm. “Highlands CC offers me the highest quality cool-season turfgrasses that are so easy on my paws. When I work all day chasing the ball that my dad continues to throw for me, I get excellent traction and glide across the smooth playing surfaces offered at HCC. In addition, Club ponds offer excellent water quality with numerous swimming opportunities. It goes without saying the quality of life I enjoy combined with the appreciation shown to me by the Club’s membership, makes for a position I hope to retire in.” said, Hap.
