This morning we started the process of verticutting our approaches with a machine called a Graden. You can see above that this machine deposits sand in the small grooves it creates. This is another example of work we do to continue to firm the golf course. Doing this annually, helps create a surface where golf balls have a chance or releasing and bouncing up on the green. It is very labor intensive because it requires an operator as well as a couple team members to continue running buckets of dry sand to the machine. It will take a full week or two to finish all the approaches. The last few years, we are treating approaches as if they are greens.
