Odds and Ends

We tried a concrete sealant on the new chess board on the pool deck. This sealant protects the surface of the block and gives it a ‘wet’ appearance at all times. I’m curious to see how the product holds up.  Speaking of chess:

Now we are waiting on the remainder of large patio rock to finish the area.  Like everything else in today’s world, trucking companies are having a tough time committing to deliveries due to the lack of drivers and increased demand. Hopefully the rock will be delivered sometime in the next two weeks.

Above, the new pervious concrete cart path by the croquet lawn was stained a darker brown color. The bright grey color it cured to, had an unnatural look.  Once again, we used this material instead of regular concrete for the health of the large Oak tree next to it and as a way to create an old school look.  In the 20’s and 30’s, while cart paths weren’t needed yet, most trails and roads were built from a native aggregate.  As an experiment, I was curious if this would give off that same feel.

Finally below, I came across this old photo from 2017 that was taken the day the newest lawn (at the time) was open for play.  Note the size of the trees in front of the wall along Dillard Road!  They have certainly grown a lot bigger in 5 short years.
