It's that time of year when yellow-jacket nests have reached their peak and in addition, the yellow-jackets themselves sport a very poor attitude. If you see any on the golf course, please don't hesitate to call or email me and let me know of a somewhat-detailed location so we can treat it immediately. Most commonly, they are found on south facing slopes in the native fescue areas where the ground goes undisturbed most of the season. Please be careful looking for golf balls in these areas this time of year. Also, be careful of pets walking in these areas on the golf course. The picture above is a nest that was treated today behind the 4th green along side the road. Unfortunately there is no preventative control for these insects so we have to be on the defensive.
