Highlands has not been know for it's White Tail Deer population for reasons I never understood. I always heard it was a lack-of-food issue but that never made sense to me (it seems like food would be plentiful in the area). Regardless, we are seeing more and more in recent years. This buck, caught on a trail camera by Billy Brooks- a member of our team, was scene by several members of the staff this morning on the 13th hole.
Below, you can see the damage he left on #13 and #15 greens as he ran across the turf. Like bears, the deer up here have no appreciation for golf course etiquette. And to think, we thought metal spikes were so bad at one point??
