I spent the weekend at Roaring Gap Club, about an hour north of Winston Salem. This Ross design is often times compared to Highlands CC. It is a special place, just like Highlands CC!
Roaring Gap is challenged by the same Ross features like you see on #3, #11 and #12 at HCC! This particular hillside approach is a lot steeper than our #11 and #12.
The superintendent at Roaring Gap Club (Erik Guinther), has been my best friend since 3rd grade. We both worked at several golf courses together in High School and Erik eventually went on to be the Assistant Super at Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta for 10 years, taking the Roaring Gap job in 2007.
