Salamanders

This salamander was found today crossing the 15th hole. Matthew helped him out by carrying him to the stream. You can see by the tape measure, this guy is easily 7” long.  With our temperate rainforest climate, Highlands is known as the “Salamander Capital of the World” with more species of salamanders living here than anywhere else on earth.  In addition, Highlands is also know for a huge number of mold and mildew species that thrive in the cool, damp conditions.
