Today's weekly soap flush on a couple fairways brought to the surface two Annual Bluegrass Weevils (ABW). You can see by the photo, just how small these insects are and are easily identified by their long snout. This was found on #1 fairway. With only two insects coming from a 3' x 3' test area, treatment isn't required because two ABW don't reach the threshold to warrant a control measure. If we found 10 or more in a given area, I would feel different. We'll keep checking weekly and will treat accordingly. This photo also shows that Assistant Superintendent, Chad Stockton, might benefit from a manicure.
A few beautiful photos of the 16th hole.
