HCC Putting Greens
With the golf course officially open, we are getting a small amount of play and it is great to see members back in Highlands. Our greens are not in their summer form at this point, but it won't be long. In March, we do a majority of our aerification for the season. The amount of disruption we do takes a considerable amount of time to heal. At the same time, we are beginning to mow and we don't want the mowers to pick up all the sand we paid to put down. Therefore, we raise the height of cut on the greens to .140" as opposed to .125". The last few nights, our temperatures were above 50*F which is great for growth. Because of that, the greens are growing nicely at this point. While out height of cut won't change during the next week, our frequency of mowing will be increasing and you'll see an improvement in the greens quality. Provided this warmer weather continues, the greens will be well on their way to being healed by the first week of May. I will be posting more updates in the coming days and weeks.
