The drainage issue on #17 turned into a much larger problem than anticipated. In 2002, the 12" pipe under the 17th fairway was replaced with new plastic pipe. However, the old metal pipe that was deteriorating was not removed. This resulted in ground water accumulating in that old pipe until it was full. Once it was full, it had no where to go but to the surface. We developed a plan to fix this and be sure it isn't an issue in the future. We also found the irrigation mainline in this hole- it is a 10" line that is less than 12" below the surface! I'm not sure why it was buried so shallow.
