The take-all patch disease (caused by a fungus) continues to be a fight on the 9th fairway. This is one of the more bizarre issues I've faced at Highlands CC. Unfortunately, we are seeing a little resistance with specific fungicides and I'm having to mix some relatively costly concoctions to knock it back. There isn't any one product that seems to want to stop it in its tracks. It is prevalent in low lying areas that stay damp, making an ideal environment for fungus to grow and spread. In the summer, we will grow out of this but during spring and fall, it is a battle. We continue to use an arsenal of fungicide including a granular DMI class fungicide that will be watered into the root-zone with the front that will be moving through the area tonight and tomorrow. We are expecting some substantial rain tomorrow.
