If white grubs are a problem in your lawn, now is the time to treat preventatively for the damage that occurs in fall. If the larval stage of the beetle is left untreated, you risk the chance of your grass dying due to lack of roots or digging by hungry animals- skunks, raccoons and wild hogs all dig for grubs. An insecticide application now will prevent egg hatch, and ultimately prevent the larva and adults from developing later this year. Low rates of an insecticide are more effective (a less expensive) than trying to deal with the problem after it occurs. Again, June is the time of year when adult beetles are laying eggs in grass. This week, we are treating the property 'wall to wall' for this insect.
