Every year in October, I feel it is critical to have a technician service our irrigation pump station. During this service, the oil is changed in pump motors (there are 3), the filter is taken apart and cleaned and all electrical components are tested and looked over. This is important for the coming season. Although these services are not inexpensive, it is very important to ensure the pumps and pump station components last their maximum life expectancy. It's very similar to a car and making sure proper service is done on a routine basis.
There is a large filter on the pump station that prevents debris from entering in the irrigation lines and clogging sprinkler heads. A shaft on this component broke, causing the filter to malfunction. This shaft will need to be replaced as part of this service.
The final application of biostimulants was made to the practice green trials this morning. This Clemson researcher will be back next week for the last time this year to collect data.
