Mr. Spence found this on the golf course recently and brought it to me. I love seeing these old finds.
Apparently Dunlop came up with the "65" after Sir Henry Cotton played what at the time was referred to as "The perfect round" back in 1934 in the second round of The Open Championship. So the 65 ball was born. Its been used by Player, Seve & Jacklin to name but three.
From the research I did, this was the premium ball in golf until it was replaced by the Titleist Tour Balata and used mostly by professionals through the 1970's and 80's.
