If you're in Highlands, you know how much damage was caused by Hurricane Irma. Power has been restored to 90% of homes as of today. The remaining 10% of homes are areas where town electric crews are having to rebuild the entire electric system- poles, wire, transformers etc. An example of one such area is the top of Satulah Mountain. Crews are expected to finish this work by early next week.
I'm still amazed at the fact that (from what I've seen) Red Oaks seem to be the most common tree species that fell during the storm. Next would be White Pines...mostly limbs that snapped out of the pines. Again, 90-95% of the damage we had at Highlands CC was caused by falling Oak trees, a species I always thought was more sturdy.
