This past winter, during the Golf Industry Show in Orlando, I was fortunate to have played golf at CC of Orlando with HCC Green Chairman, Mr. Davis. CC of Orlando is a fantastic Ross course in the midst of a huge restoration under the supervision of Ron Forse. Every "Ross Tee" had one of these 7-8" Donald Ross busts/plaques next to the tee, mounted on a stone that was flush to the surface of the ground. I learned that after the renovation project, they weren't going to put them back out except for one on #1 and #10, potentially. I thought that if I was able to get one, this would certainly add to the HCC experience and just be a really neat way to celebrate our heritage on a daily basis. I spoke to the Superintendent there, who has become a friend, and between he and Mr. Davis, was able to get one of these busts gifted to Highlands CC. I found a great, flat native stone to mount it on and tomorrow, I'll be installing it next to the 1st tee. I'm not sure the artist or company who manufactured these, but they are really well done, high quality bronze and subtle. I think it's a great addition to Highlands CC and specifically, the 1st tee.
