Friday

Even if fungus that attacks plants are harmful and many time frustrating, they sure can be beautiful!  I saw these lesions on a rhododendron leaf at the Club.  The circles are perfect and symmetrical.

We worked on trimming back trees and shrubs in several creeks Friday. With the challenges this year, this is something we didn't get to like we should have.

On #5, we cut back a couple rhododendron limbs to expose this beautiful spring head. We also applied herbicide in many areas to eliminate the unwanted growth. This is important so it doesn't come back year after year.  In fact many of our wildflower areas have been overtaken with jewel weed or a dominant species. We want to control this now so we will enjoy the diversity of these areas  for years to come.  I will write more about this next week.

Finally, on the 5th hole, we cut the lower limbs on the spruce trees so golfers have a  better opportunity to find their golf ball.
