We have a small dredging operation on #2 pond to remove sediment at the head of the pond. We did dig sediment containment ditches above the pond (in the woods) and clean them out regularly. However, when we get the kind of rain we've gotten this past fall and winter, I am not sure there is much you can do. In the mountains with steep slopes, water sheet flow moves quickly. Add a 100" of rain annually in our rainforest and the volume is right there too. These are the perils of our climate.
