Weather predictions continue to get worse!

It looks like we could have as much as 11-12" of snow by Saturday morning!

This data comes from highlandsweather.net.  highlandsweather.net is the most reliable and accurate weather forecast available in the area.  I can't say enough about Kenton David, them man behind the weather station.  The Weather Channel or weather.com are useless in my personal opinion.  I've often said that those weather models come from the NC/TN border because the snow predictions are more accurate for the Boone/Blowing Rock/Banner Elk area, not the southern portion of Western NC that receives little snow in comparison.  Ironically, rain is the opposite.  Banner Elk, North Carolina, gets 50 inches of rain per year and 41 inches of snow/year. The average US city gets 37" rain/year and 25 inches of snow per year.  Highlands, NC receives an average of 96" rain/year and 12" of snow/year.  Accuweather is ok; it was founded by Joel Myers and other Penn State graduates from the nations top meteorology department.  Incidentally, Joel Myers was a member of the PSU Board of Trustees that fired head football coach, Joe Paterno, in 2011 and poorly handled the entire saga that occurred there.  Needless to say, he ran unsuccessfully for another term as a trustee.  That said, stick to highlandsweather.net for all of your weather needs.  Kenton also has an incredible database of historical weather data on that site that is really interesting to study.
