Is World War II happening again? Nope, just concrete form trucks, aka The Deuce and a half! Apparently, these guys get good deals on these from Government Auctions. They run on either diesel or gasoline- in the battle field, I guess you might not have a choice. In addition, they are easy to work on and crank in most all conditions. They are manual transmission and range in year from the 1960's up to the 1980's. I am told, although not confirmed, AMC made them. It is kind of interesting...I asked the concrete man if I could barrow one to take my wife on a date. It's a piece of American History and historically, a military workhorse.
The forms are off and it's starting to look like something!
Remember the final grade is 12" below the hole drains on the wall. If you hear someone say the wall is overpowering and too large, ignore that. Envision the final grade with landscaping! It will be most attractive.
Above, note the notch and 10" form that sticks out above. The final grade of the court is just before the notch. The other 10" (plus another 4" from the rock capstone) will serve as the curbing on the court so balls to go over the wall. The end height will be 15" above grade to stop balls. That was some last-minute, forward thinking on my part!
Although not too exciting, we finally poured the footers today on the equipment wash pad. This project has been dragging on due to poor weather and poor soil conditions. The ground is completely comprised of fill, making it an engineering challenge.
