With the season ending today, things are really switching gears this week. The Hopkins house is coming down tomorrow. Tree work will start as well. The only trees being fully removed are those with "caution" tape around them. If you see any other kind of ribbon, it means its either being studied for removal or simply pruned. I can't stress this enough. Some may ask, "why mark these trees at all because it just creates controversy?" That is true. However, when the tree crew starts and works every day, I can't be with them at every hour. This clearly defines those that come down and reduces confusion. In addition, this week the following projects are planned:
1. spraying bunkers with the Billy bunker polymer
2. golf course aerification
3. Drill and Fill aeration on fairways
4. lime the golf course
5. topdress tees and approaches
6. spray our preventative snow mold treatment to greens and tees
For the last number of years we discussed the use of a "soft cart path" on holes like #17. I bought a cubic yard of rubber mulch and doing a test area on the Cobb Rd cart bath between #5 and 8. This will be sprayed with the bunker polymer (binding the mulch so it won't wash during rains) to determine how effective it would be on this application. Stay tuned! I may be on to something!
