It is that time of year when yellow jacket nests become evident around the golf course. Members typically do a great job letting us know where they are so we can treat them. Keep in mind they are typically found on steep, south facing slopes; on areas that are rarely disturbed. This means native fescue and wildflower areas are prime targets for bees. It is my recommendation that you simply stay away from these areas. It isn't worth trying to find a $2 golf ball! Unfortunately there is no magical product out there that we can spray to prevent them from building their nests. Please use extreme caution on the golf course! Also remember that it you do get stung and feel your chest tighten or find yourself short of breath, seek medical attention immediately. It is never too late to develop an allergy to bee stings.
