Bittersweet

It's that time of year when bittersweet vine is sold at grocery stores and farmers markets in Highlands.   It is sold as a fall decoration due to its colorful, Attractive berries. However, this is an invasive weed that when growing in the wild, will kill rhododendron and other plants. It grows extremely aggressive. We have battled this on the golf course in several areas, particularly #4 and 5. I would ask you DO NOT purchase it!  In fact, it is my opinion that it should not be legal to sell.  Birds will carry the berries off, seeds will germinate and the rest is history!
