HCC has a great policy in place to allow those with handicaps or even temporary disabilities to use a yellow flag on their golf cart. This allows the golfer better access to a majority of the course. It DOES NOT give the golfer a free pass to ride anywhere on the property. In fact, those users of yellow flags are to have a educational session and tour of the golf course with a member of the golf shop staff. During this lesson, the golf staff explains where the golfer is and is not permitted to go.
In the past few weeks, I have observed some abuse of the yellow flag. For example, I watched a member drive behind the 1st green! I watched another member go up the hill on #3 and around the back of the green. Not only is this dangerous, but it impacts the condition of the course for the enjoyment of all the members.
For example, the golf committee established rules for yellow flag users. No one is permitted to drive on the 1st hole, yellow flag included. On #3, the golfer is permitted to drive on flat, but after their 2nd shot is hit they must turn around and head back to the path. No cart is permitted within 20ft of any green or tee! When the cart path only rule is in effect, no yellow flags are permitted on the course. No exceptions.
I ask that you, the membership, know these rules and help police these rules. They exist to protect the safety of the members and the condition of the golf course.
