The Kousa Dogwood (above) and the Mountain Laurel (below) are 2 plants currently flowering around the course. The Kousa dogwood became the standard in Western NC once the Flowering Dogwood became prone to the fungal blight. There are many flowering dogwoods left but they do seem to die once they reach a certain age. Flowering dogwoods are understory plants while the Kousa dogwood tends to do very well in full sun. In fact, they can grow to be 40' tall.
