Following our tee aerification we fertilized tees this morning. Autumn is the best time to fertilize cool season turf. In fact, the best time is when the air temperature is cool but the soil temps are warm. If this is the case, a majority of the nutrients are used to push root growth and carbohydrate storage. This will make the turf much more vigorous come spring time when air temps begin to warm. All playing surfaces at HCC are built around a fall fertilization program.
