At the Old Course at St. Andrews (my former employer) the decision was made to add this stonework to the Swilcan Bridge in order to combat the constant turf wear at such a key landmark. Instantly, the golf world was up in arms! Some say it looks like a fire pit should be in the middle, or a hot tub. Others called it a helicopter landing pad.
Regardless, today the St. Andrews Links Trust released the following letter, stating the addition rock work is being removed.
