Underground Directional Boring Project

With much of the snow gone (although sleet and freezing rain is predicted this afternoon), we are digging the entry and exit points for the underground directional boring contractor that will be here next Monday. This technology, will allow us to bore two, 8" irrigation lines below Dillard Road without any disruption above ground.  There is a lot of permitting and paperwork that went into allowing this to happen.  Back in July, we worked with the NCDOT to obtain the necessary permitting to make this happen.  In addition, we are working with the Town of Highlands and other local utility providers so they can locate and mark any and all infrastructure.  The holes dug are nearly 8-9' deep.  The plan is to bore the pipe well below the town's infrastructure. On Dillard Road, a sewer runs along the north side of the road and the water main runs down the south side of Hwy 106.

Next Monday, be sure to tune in to see how this machine works!
