2,000ft2 of creeping bentgrass sod was delivered this afternoon. We used the washed sod to replace worn turf on #2 collar and #16 tee. The term 'washed sod' refers to the process of pressure washing the soil off the root zone before it leaves the sod farm. This allows us to grow the new turf on our own soil, without having a layer of soil from the sod farm in the mix. Requesting washed sod over regular sod (with the soil still in tact) adds about 30-40 cents per square foot of sod. In the end, it's well worth the extra expense.
