We have 2 truckloads of Kentucky Bluegrass sod coming next week and spent a good portion of this week preparing for it. The area between #2 and #3 was a mess and it's great to see it looking cleaned up.
On #12, all the drainage is installed and the only thing remaining, is to haul in the 4" sand cap as well as sod.
The contractor installed rock on the small wall by the pavillion today in preparation for sod next Tuesday and Wednesday. We don't want to be working on newly laid turf.
There is nothing more rewarding and gratifying than seeing cart paths edged...it could almost be used as therapy.
In addition to preparing for sod next week, we are resloping the ground behind the 8th green so water can efficiently move off the cart path without creating erosion issues like it had in the past.
Finally, I started playing with the ole buttermilk/moss in a blender trick. Word on the street is that if you mix these two together and blend them up, the concoction can be poured or "painted" over rocks and other surfaces where the spores with spread and grow. The buttermilk is used because it doesn't evaporate like water would, giving the moss a damp place to grow. We'll know in a month or so if it works. My experiment is on the stone bridge on #12, below the green. If you try this, the objective is to create a milkshake like consistency. But don't use your $800 Vitamix blender because the combination is rough on the equipment. I know this, because my $30 Hamilton Beach Blender caught on fire after the 6th quart of moss milkshake I made.
