Friday

Above: The old Forrester Home and Cottage that is now owned by the Club, is really to be razed in order to make room for a new Golf Maintenance Building.  This has been a fun project to plan for because it gives us a chance to tweak some things to make the operation and facilities more efficient.  I spent the last 3 weeks getting an asbestos inspection completed and securing the necessary permits from both Macon County and the Town of Highlands.

At the croquet lawns, the footers were poured today with concrete.  These footers will support the rock faced walls that will surround the lawn.  This weekend, we'll start laying cement block that will ultimately be faced with a rock veneer.

Today was a good day because we finally completed picking up the limbs and debris that were left from select tree removal.  We try to use a crane where possible because this makes clean-up easy. However, there are many areas on the property where it just isn't possible to access a crane.  In these cases, the trees are climbed by a professional and pieced down limb by limb.  HCC staff then comes behind and cleans up the mess.  We'll be picking up the remaining logs next week.  With approximately 2-months until opening, we have to watch our time and balance the remainder of the time we have while allowing adequate time for cleanup to get the course ready for spring.  While it sounds like a lot, it goes by fast!
