You can see that work on the new croquet lawn hasn't stopped! As you know, all of the sand from the rootzone was removed. Next, the drainage and gravel layer was pulled out as well. The lines dug in the subgrade of these photos were the drain channels below the old lawn. All of this will be filled in with soil, starting tomorrow as they excavate the surrounding land to make way for the new lawn. It's important to remove all of this material prior to starting on the new lawn. Leaving it could result in problems down the road, specifically water movement and collection below the new lawn.
