As Hurricane Sally makes its way to the southeast, there are models of predicting as much as 8" of rain Thursday and Friday! Our YTD total is 100.5".
Some have asked about our rain total vs the total reported in the newspaper by the biological station. If I recall, it was recently printed at 70" I can't explain the difference other than say it's always been inaccurate. Maybe it is full of leaves or placed under an overhang. However, I can tell you the following are reporting these totals:
An HCC member: 105"
HCC: 100.5"
Cullasaja Club: 103"
Highlands Falls: 102"
