The yellow spots (3) in this photo, are actually dead Poa annua plants on the practice facility putting green collar. With the green being nearly new, we have an opportunity to keep the green Poa free, by staying on top of it. In this case, Chris used a tiny paint brush to apply an herbicide to the Poa annua without getting the herbicide on the bentgrass.
Talk about an improvement! #2 green in full sun by 9:00 am is amazing. Before this year, it would be 11:00 am or later before the green saw full sun.
We still have some major challenges on the golf course. Below, you can see 5 tees, 5 fairway, 6 fairway and 8 green all lack good sunlight penetration. High quality turf requires a minimum of 8 hours of sunlight per day and we aren't anywhere close to that.
Below, the same can be said for #3 fairway and #3 green.
Above, if you look closely, #5 fairway in the right/center of the photo is in the dark!
Above, you can see the fairways on #7 and #8 lack good morning sunlight.
Below, enjoy a handful of drone photos from this morning.
