If I had a Dollar for every Spot...

Above, the brown spots you see in some of our roughs are caused by a fungal disease known as Dollar Spot.  It is very active this time of year and we make every effort to treat our roughs as time permits.  Tees, greens and fairways are treated on a preventative schedule but treating the rough on a wall to wall basis would be difficult and cost prohibitive.  This is a problem that most golf courses don't have to worry about.  But in our temperate rain-forest climate, we grow fungus better than anyone which means we spray more fungicides than anyone else.  Throw in the excess shade we deal with at Highlands CC and it's easy to understand why the chemical companies are excited to get our business!

Our resident Mallard is down to one baby this week.  Last week, I saw as many as 4.
