Above, the steps that connect the two parking lots at the Hudson House lost a fight today with a Freightliner.
Above, Chris Chavez is leading the leaf clean up crew. This consumes 3 staff members for about 6-8 weeks each year, 8 hours a day. Considering the crew is only about 17 strong right now, then take out 2 mechanics and these 3, we have 12 people to work. This drought requires 2 people to be watering all day due to a poor irrigation system. Now we are down to 10. These 10, which includes me, have to blow leaves, mow, set the course up each morning etc. On top of that, we are trying to get a jump on projects for this winter. All in all, we are pretty effective provided we have member support. There isn't a whole lot of time for much else.
We are cleaning out more brush on the right side of #5. Below, the pond on #6 was drained once again to attempt to find the leak. This has been my nemesis for the last 10 years or more. I wish I could have been here in 1999 when it was built to assure a better job was done to make sure the pond would hold water. My guess is, tree roots have grown to the point water is leaking around them.
Between #6 and #8, we are building a small gravel maintenance path to prevent the turf from getting worn.
