Above, the golf course is greening up more each day. Despite the complications of reduced staff, I couldn't be happier where we are right now. Sure, the greens are slow and bumpy due to aerification. This is better than the repercussions of not doing said practices. Playing on slow greens for 3 weeks will always trump soft, spongy, wet greens that will ultimately fail and need rebuilt; causing the course to shut down for an extended period!
The new croquet facility serves as a nicer backdrop to the 18th green.
Below, while traversing the course today I came across this clump of Poa annua in a pinestraw bed on #6. This is a textbook clump of Poa! It's hard to not get excited about this stuff! It's like finding a 4 leaf clover or a perfect flower, symmetrical in shape.
Below, cabinets and countertops are installed in the new pavilion.
We started cleaning up the Clubhouse parking lots today, which acted as a staging area for the many projects. The sand left over is being spread on the golf course- in the rough! Topdressing the wetter rough areas with sand will help firm these areas as well as smooth surfaces. We don't want to put the sand on fairways at this point because we are lowering the height with sharp mowers. Nothing destroys the quality of cut of a reel mower more than sand.
Below, more landscaping continues with 6' arborvitae installed in a few locations.
