Nematode Assay Results

Last week I sent a soil sample to University of Florida to perform a nematode count.  Interestingly, two species of nematodes, the spiral and stunt nematode specifically, are above the threshold and damage could occur. Since the year is winding down, I am not overly concerned right now because the soil temps are getting colder by the day and their activity will really slow down. However, I am going to spend the offseason talking with experts and developing a game plan for next year. This will include more frequent monitoring and treatments as required.

With our greens severely shaded this time of year and unable to recover from any kind of damage,  something like this could push us over the edge.  We need to keep an eye on it. I will have more information as I learn more.  Below is a copy of the diagnosis.
