Monday

Today was the start of a new program at the driving range and I am pretty excited about the possibilities.  I've been soaking 50lb bags of ryegrass in the lake so it pre-germinates.  You can see all the tiny roots that have emerged from the seed while still in the bag.  We are then mixing this with our divot sand and filling divots on the tee.  This really has potential to aid in the recovery of our range tee.  I learned of this program via HCC member, Ed Scott and his Superintendent at his home club in California.  I am proud of the fact I am always learning and trying/seeking new ways to do things.

Below, Garrett Woods levels off divots using the sand-seed mixture.

(Below) We are also "circle cutting" fairways this week.  This process allows us to get a great cut on fairways by mowing the turf from a number of angles.  We do this monthly through the season.
