Tuesday

We received about 2.5" of rain throughtout last night and today.  We kept on working through the day and had a rather productive day at that.  I started seeding a few beds at the Stiehler-Beckner Center for Organic Agricultural Excellence. Lettuce and Spinach seeds were planted as these types of plants are not harmed by cold spells.  Other seeds are planted the first week of May.

Bag #1 is gone!  It is a good feeling to be wrapping this project up.  I will allow the area to dry for a few days and then we will prep it for sod installation; all by next week, Hopefully!  Below, the crew has started on the bags on the 10th hole this afternoon.

Chad Stockton and Matthew Green are finishing up the drainage and irrigation installation at the back of the driving range.  This new maintenance building will serve the range staff well in storing equipment and ball washing machines.

For years, the area next to the 13th hole served as a "dump" area where limbs and debris were hauled to and even burned when the pile got large enough.  Once the NC Clean Air Act really became enforced in the early 2000's, the area became obsolete.  If you see it today, you would notice well over 100 electric flags spaced out on 8' centers.  This is and extension of my farm and the now officially known as the HCC Pumpkin patch!  This fall, plan to take your grand kids here to harvest your pumpkins!  I personally planted well over 100 seeds in this area; several different varieties as well as a selection of gourds.  Pending the success, we may have a new tradition!
