Rain in Highlands is giving us the perfect opportunity to get some fertilizer out and watered in by mother nature.  Our focus are the greens on the course and the driving range tee.  Greens are receiving 0.5 lbs of Nitrogen per 1000ft2 using a 17-0-17 fertilizer.  The range tee was fertilized with a 24-0-6 fertilizer at 1 lb Nitrogen per 1000 ft2.  These applications will give the turf a boost heading into spring and aid in the recovery of aerification. Springtime, following aerification, is the ideal time to "feed the soil."  This means supplying numerous granular soil amendments based on soil test results that were sent off a month ago.  This includes, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and of course, Nitrogen for plant growth.

Below, you can get a feel for the amount of work cut out for us at the driving range in a couple weeks.  Landscaping, sewer line backfill and sodding all need to take place.  I am proud of the fact that this staff takes on more than any other club I know of.  We have a full plate with this project, getting the golf course ready and wrapping up the dredging project.
