Clemson University is doing some turfgrass research on the 6th hole in the rough. They will be testing a series of new chemistries used as crabgrass pre-emergents. While some of these chemicals are already used on bermudagrass, they have yet to be tried on cool season turfgrasses. Bermudagrass, often looked at as a weed (you simply can't kill the stuff), is far more tolerant of chemicals compared to cool season turf. I always enjoy being involved in some of this cutting edge research at Highlands CC and grateful that you, the membership, support turfgrass research!
Once again, HCC recently contributed a foursome of golf to be auctioned off during the Rounds for Research program coming up in June. Stay tuned for more information.
