Hemlocks

I took this picture at another area golf course.  As you can see by the white-cotton like material, the Hemlock Wholly Adelgid (HWA) is still alive and well.  Of course, its food source is diminishing by the day.At some point in the near future, the only trees that remain will be those which were treated with imidichlorpid.  We will be treating the HCC hemlocks again in September as we do each year.  Given the low cost of soil injections, I recommend treating annually and will continue to do so on your golf course.

While it is still an issue in our area, one would think once the food source is depleted, they will be moving onto another area.
